Catalyst: Umbrella

The Catalyst: Capacity building programmes formed part of a broader partnership between HLF, the Department for Culture Media and Sport, and Arts Council England.

They aimed to encourage more private giving to culture and heritage, and to build the capacity and skills of cultural and heritage organisations to fundraise from private donors, corporate sources, trusts and foundations.

Catalyst: Umbrella grants were developed to offer eligible Umbrella bodies grants of between £100,000 and £500,000 to deliver a range of services to support heritage organisations to increase their capacity to fundraise and diversify income.
